Obituary

Reta Kay Groves, 53, of Eldon, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the

University of Missouri Hospital. She was born on October 29, 1968 to Gene and

Betty (Cochran) Skokowski in Iberia, MO. She accepted the Lord when she was 13

and baptized at Ninth Street Christian Church.

Reta was kind-hearted, always putting others before herself. She had the ability

to make anyone’s day better. If she was around, you could count on smiling until

it hurt with her quick-wittedness and genuine laugh. She was a sweet soul who

enjoyed rock-and-roll and the sunshine. In her free time, you’d find her in the sun

catching up on the latest news or reading a book. She also loved finding treasures

that turned house into home. If she had her mind set on something, you couldn’t

stop her. It was one of her best qualities. Her entire heart went into everything

she did. This was especially true when it came to her family, who filled her with

pride. They meant everything to her and she was everything to them. She will be

truly missed, but her memory held close.

Reta was united in marriage to Stephen Groves on November 26, 1988 at Ninth

Street Christian Church in Eldon. In addition to her husband, Steve, she is survived

by two children, Jessica Groves of Waipahu, HI and Jacob Groves of Eldon, her

parents, three siblings, Regenia (Phil) Wyrick, Robbie Skokowski of Eldon, and

Ruth Ann (Kevin) Cardwell of Iberia, and three in-laws, Alan Groves of Eldon, Jo

Ann Groves of Prairie Village, KS, and John (Ingrid Haas) Groves of Eldon. She had

many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her father and

mother-in-law Robert (Doc) and Mary Groves and her nephew and great-nephew

Kyle and Cameron Skokowski.

Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Heber Mena officiating.  Private Family Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name are suggested In Care of the Family.
